Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you
Today we meet with the 45th Hadith from the book Riyadh as-Salihin (Introduction Section – Chapter on Patience)
On the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The strong is not the one who overcomes others by wrestling, but the strong is the one who controls himself when angry.”
[Agreed upon – narrated by both al-Bukhari and Muslim]
“Al-Ṣura‘ah” (الصُّرَعَةُ) – with a ḍammah (ـُ) on the ṣād and a fatḥah (ـَ) on the rā’ – originally refers, in the Arabic language, to someone who frequently throws others down in wrestling.
